Ghost Hunts at Medieval Spon Street Cottage - Friday 7th September 2012
Medieval Spon Street stands like a time capsule of old building, surrounded by new Coventry.
This very historic street was an important part of Coventry’s industry and also home to many generations of families. At the end of the street stands Bablake Church which suffered at the hands of King Henry VIII during the dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th Century and was also used as a prison for the Royalist soldiers captured during the English Civil War. They were forced to exercise in the street where they were shunned by the local folk, thus coining the phrase “sent to Coventry”. It has also been suggested that this was a place where the ‘heretics’ of the time were brought to be burnt and that many, many executions of this kind have taken place here.
In 1641, the City’s only known serial killer was discovered and known simply as Johnson. He poisoned himself and was buried in the Churchyard of Bablake Church, but there were so many objections that his body was exhumed and pinned down in the roadside, an act which was believed to prevent his troubled spirit from rising back from the grave.
With so many layers of history, Spon Street in Coventry has had numerous reported sightings of ghosts and the secret location in which we will be investigating is one of the only original buildings on the street, having survived the infamous bombings during the War. With heavy footsteps, loud bangs and even objects being hurled, this location is sure to be a terrifying experience and your Ghost Hunt here will hopefully reveal some of the residents that still haunt this place. With 3 floors to investigate and numerous rooms, you will not be spoilt for choice when looking for a lone vigil. Electrical items are often affected, lights are switched on during the night when the building is empty and people have even been grabbed by what is to believed to be a disgruntled workman from times gone by, unhappy with the handymen doing some work in the building. On our first investigation here a glass made the shape of a Pentagram, then exploded beneath people's fingers during one vigil.
Join Haunted Happenings on our very first overnight investigation of this old building on Spon Street and together we will see what spirits and ghosts still haunt this historic place.

Just wanted to thank you and your team for an amazing night last night! We all had a fantastic time, and got great feedback from everybody who took part last night. You all did a fabulous job co-ordinating the activities, and were very engaging - I think every group experienced something!
You've certainly opened me up from being a scaredy-cat about all things paranormal, and would definitely recommend your company to anyone thinking of doing a ghost hunt. Heck, I'd probably do it again myself!
Again, can't thank you and your team enough, you were all terrific!
