In August 1612, ten people were executed by hanging on the moors above Lancaster, having been found guilty of Witchcraft.  Accused of murdering 16 people over a period of 20 years, the Pendle Witches were accused of causing madness and death through witchcraft and making clay images while the Samlesbury Witches were accused of child murder and cannibalism.  Pendle Hill has become infamous throughout the World for its sinister history and the whole area is synonymous with paranormal activity.

Haunted Happenings have conducted numerous ghost hunts at Pendle Hill and have experienced ghostly shadows, Poltergeist activity, dense mists and apparitions, as well as guests being affected and even grabbed by unseen hands. 

Samlesbury Hall has its own history of murder and mayhem, with a grey lady who is said to have gone insane following the brutal murder of her lover and also a decapitated Priest murdered during the Reformation, whose bloodstain still appears on the spot where he was slain. 

We will also investigate the very hotel in which you are staying – the 700 year old Dunkenhalgh Hotel, in which numerous paranormal experiences have been reported, including orbs seen with the naked eye, extreme drops in temperature and some terrifying experiences in the two haunted bedrooms. 

The hotel is said to be haunted by the tragic spirit of a young French woman who hurled herself from a bridge after being jilted by her Soldier lover, a story local historian Simon Entwistle has confirmed is based on fact.
