Bull i' th' Thorn
The Bull i' th' Thorn stands on an old Roman Road between Buxton And Ashbourne. It has been a resting place for travellers for more than 500 years and retains its olde worlde atmosphere and charm to this day.
The A515 where it is situated used to be known as "The Street", the Roman Road running from Little Chester to Buxton. Nearly 700 years ago there was a farmhouse sitting alongside this Roman Road and in 1472 it became a hostelry called "The Bull". Over a period of time there were various name changes but it is now known as The Bull i' th' Thorn.
Inside the Inn there are still many of the original features with the Tudor panneling still on the walls bearing carvings from 1642 and 1742. This Inn is said to be very, very active and there have been many sightings of ghosts and apparitions. Staff have reported things being moved and poltergeist activity has been witnessed.
