Join Haunted Happenings on the most active night of the year at the infamous Oxford Castle for a ghost hunt which is sure to strike fear into the heart of even the most hardened ghost hunter.
Halloween is considered to be the night when the veil between this world and the ‘other side’ is at its thinnest and the night when you are most likely to experience a ghostly encounter. Are you brave enough to join us for an hour of intense vigils in the most haunted parts of the Castle on the most haunted night of the year?
Execution, murder and plotting are part of Oxford Castle’s history and the activity experienced on ghost hunts here has often been very intense. The Crypt beneath Oxford Castle is a daunting place so you will need your wits about you on your ghost hunt and you may even encounter the infamous jailer whose footsteps are often heard on the prison wing corridor. Whatever happens, you are sure to leave here with an experience you will not forget.
Oxford Castle has been used as a prison for over 900 years and public executions were carried out here until 1863, with the last execution taking place within the castle walls as late as 1952. The cell doors were closed for the last time in 1996 having housed many infamous inmates including the notorious Black Panther Serial Killer Donald Nielsen. Legend talks of a curse at the Castle and human and animal bones have been discovered here, believed to be related to rituals and sacrifice. In order to discover for yourself some of the myths and legends of the Castle join us on this chilling Halloween ghost hunt.
Ghostly figures, Poltergeist activity and heavy footsteps are all a common occurrence at Oxford Castle and people have even reported the sounds of keys rattling and the slamming of heavy doors during ghost hunts here. Dramatic drops in temperature have been felt and people have heard voices spoken in a foreign tongue, particularly in the Crypt.
You will be taken into the most haunted areas of the location including the Crypt, Prison Wing and Padded Cell to carry out Séances and Vigils with the Haunted Happenings team for a full hour of extreme paranormal activity.
